April Book Haul

It’s time for another book haul. I have to say that I’ve bought so much more books since I started my blog than I did before! I’m guessing the mailman is thinking -what is up with all the packages for this girl? As ever, I’ll be showing you the physical copies I bought, the books I got from the library and the eBooks I received for review.

The titles will take you to their Goodreads pages.

Books I bought

Splintered (Splintered #1) by A.G. Howard
Heir of Novron (Riyria Revelations #5-6) by Michael J. Sullivan
Rise of Empire (Riyria Revelations #3-4) by Michael J. Sullivan
Promise of Blood (Powder Mage #1) by Brian McClellan
Allies & Assassins (Allies & Assassins #1) by Justin Somper
The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard #1) by Scott Lynch
Red Seas Under Red Skies (Gentleman Bastard #2) by Scott Lynch
The Republic of Thieves (Gentleman Bastard #3) by Scott Lynch

So I FINALLY bought Splintered. I really need to read this one soon, I’ve heard nothing but great things from pretty much all of you. And since I read Theft of Swords, the first bind-up of the Riyria Revelations, I knew I needed to buy the next two bind-ups soon. AND SO I DID. Allies & Assassins was on sale on the Bookdepository -it only cost me €4- so I had to buy that one too. And I bought physical copies of the Gentleman Bastard books! I really enjoyed The Lies of Locke Lamora, which I read last year. And since buying these, I’ve read Red Seas Under Red Skies too.

I bought all of these books on the Bookdepository -for which I have an affiliate link in the sidebar.

Library books

daredevil vol 1 little women the hobbit the magicians

Daredevil Vol. 1 by Kevin Smith
Little Women (Little Women #1) by Louisa May Alcott
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Magicians (Magicians #1) by Lev Grossman

When I saw that my library had the first volume of Daredevil, I was so excited! I know Netflix has just released the first season of its adaptation but I kind of wanted to check out the graphic novel first. And then I saw this beautiful copy of Little Women, it even has deckled edges! So I needed to try that one too. I’ve never read Little Women but I really want to give it a try. Then there’s The Hobbit. The copy I got is actually very different than that picture. It’s a gorgeous book with thick paper and beautiful ILLUSTRATIONS. It’s like a children’s book of The Hobbit but with the same text… And lastly, I chose The Magicians. I’ve tried to read this before but couldn’t get into it, so I figured it may have been time to give it another go.

Books for review

damage done what you left behind citadel of the sky dark legion fat girl walking

Damage Done by Amanda Panitch
What You Left Behind by Jessica Verdi
Citadel of the Sky by Chrysoula Tzavelas
Dark Legion (Blood of Blood #1) by Paul Kleynhans
Fat Girl Walking by Brittany Gibbons

I received the first four books via Netgalley and the last one through Edelweiss – thank you for that, publishers! I’m really excited to get to them -please let it be soon- and hopefully I’ll actually enjoy them too. I always find it the worst when I don’t like a book I received for review -am I the only one that has that?

That was my April book haul! Did you buy/receive any books this month?

  1. You got a tonne of great books! The Gentleman Bastards series is really great and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the third one whenever you read it. Promise Of Blood is also great fun. It has one of the most original magic systems I’ve read and you should definitely like it if you’re a fan of Sanderson. I’m also really interested to see what you think of The Magicians. I’ve heard loads of great things about it so it’ll be interesting to see your perspective. And then The Hobbit and Little Women are both great, so I’m sure you’ll like them

    1. Thanks! I’m really curious about Promise of Blood, I haven’t seen that many people talking about it. I am a fan on Sanderson, so I’m really hoping I’ll like it now! And the Magicians. I hope I’ll still get to it before I have to return it -and otherwise I’ll just lend it again. I really want to know how I will feel about it πŸ™‚

  2. I own The Lies of Locke Lamora but I’m not planning on reading it yet since I don’t have the other books in the series yet.

The books you got this month all sound interesting! Happy reading and I hope that you have a great May! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you! I hope you have a great May as well πŸ™‚
I actually can’t binge-read that series. I often do it with series, but for some reason I feel like the Gentleman Bastard stories are too heavy to read one after the other. I always take a bit of time inbetween πŸ˜€
