#FridayReads April 24th

Hello everyone! It’s time for another Friday Reads post to show you what I’ll be reading during the weekend. This weekend, I’ll mostly be working for university -sigh- and helping my parents as they are currently renovating part of the house. But whatever time is left, I will probably spend reading!

red seas under red skies

The first book I’ll be reading -and maybe finishing- is Red Seas Under Red Skies (Gentleman Bastard #2) by Scott Lynch. I highly enjoyed The Lies of Locke Lamora, and so far I’m really liking this one too! The schemes and plotting are totally different, yet somehow they still manage to end up in the worst and most ridiculous situations. I’m so curious to find out how they’ll worm themselves out of it. By the way, certain characters are sorely missed in this book. It’s still great, but I miss the characters.

the night circus

The second book I’ll be trying to finish is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I’ve been listening to this book on audio and so far I do like it. I’m not hugely attached to it though, maybe that’s because I’m not used to listening to audiobooks? I don’t know. But I am enjoying it, and the story is definitely intriguing and interesting -and above all, unique.

For now, those are all the books I plan on reading this weekend. If I pick up another book though, I will always update my Goodreads page! 🙂

#FridayReads April 10th

So the first week of my holidays has passed and it is time for another Friday Reads. I haven’t read much in the past few days and I don’t think I will next week either. On Sunday, I’m going on a holiday for 8 days with my friends, so I don’t think there will be much time for reading. I leave on Sunday, VERY early in the morning so I don’t know how much I’ll read during the weekend either. Anyway, let’s get into it!

eragon vicious the night circus

I’ve been wanting to re-read Eragon (Inheritance Cycle #1) by Christopher Paolini for a while, and I feel the time is there! I might read it on my e-reader, or listen to an audiobook. I’m not quite sure yet. But I feel like jumping into this world again, I have forgotten so much!

I might also pick up Vicious (Vicious #1) by V.E. Schwab. I recently read A Darker Shade of Magic by her, and it was absolutely incredible. So I want to read more of her work!

I also have the audiobook of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, which I might listen to on vacation! I have been wanting to read this for so long and I keep postponing. But an audiobook may be nice for vacations, no?

That’s all I’m planning for the next week honestly. I may read more -which I highly doubt- or I may read less. April has been my worst reading month so far I think.

What are you reading this weekend?

#FridayReads April 3rd

Another week has passed, which means it’s time for another Friday Reads post. First of all, I’m so grateful for the two week holiday we have now! I’ve been so stressed out about uni work, I definitely need it. Unfortunately, I still have to finish writing and hand in a paper by Sunday, so that will take precedence. But I do think I’ll get some reading done this week!

red seas under red skies what you left behind the witch hunter the palace job

I am currently reading Red Seas Under Red Skies (Gentleman Bastard #2) by Scott Lynch! I am enjoying it so much. I really loved The Lies of Locke Lamora, but it’s been quite a while since I finished it so I thought it was high time to read the sequel. I’m in quite the fantasy kick so this couldn’t come at a better time.

I’m not quite sure what I’ll read after that. If the fantasy kick is over, I might pick up What You Left Behind by Jessica Verdi. I received a review copy for this and I am SO excited. It sounds like such a great read.

Or I might read The Witch Hunter (The Witch Hunter #1) by Virginia Boecker. This is more towards the fantasy genre. I also received a review copy, and again: SO EXCITED.

Or if I still want to read fantasy, I might read The Palace Job (Rogues of the Republic #1) by Patrick Weekes. This seems like such a great fantasy read, I’m curious about it.

Or I might read something else entirely. I’m not quite sure yet -don’t shoot me.

What are you reading this weekend?

#FridayReads March 27th

Hi everyone! It’s time for another Friday Reads where I show you what I’ll be reading over the weekend. Is it ridiculous to say Thank God It’s Friday? I don’t know. But I’m very grateful for weekends. Before I start rambling about the joys of the weekend and the horrible feeling of a Monday, I’ll just get to the point here.

outlander prince of thorns the witch hunter

I am still reading Outlander (Outlander #1) by Diana Gabaldon. I know, it’s taking me quite a while but I can discuss it with the other ladies who joined me for a read-a-long, and it’s so much fun! I am absolutely loving this book -and have about 100 pages to go. UPDATE: this was a scheduled post -I wrote it on Thursday- but I actually just finished Outlander. AND IT WAS EPIC.

Last week, I also mentioned Prince of Thorns (Broken Empire #1) by Mark Lawrence. I haven’t continued on with it, seeing as all my free time so far has gone to working for university or reading Outlander. But I do mean to pick this one back up!

If I do end up finishing both of these books, I might pick up The Witch Hunter (Witch Hunter #1) by Virginia Boecker. I just received this one for review via Netgalley and I am so excited!

#FridayReads March 20th

Another week has passed -and where did it go?- so it’s time for another Friday Reads post. I’ll be showing you what I’m reading at the moment/plan to read this weekend. I’m currently reading three books! I know, what a mistake, right?

outlander prince of thorns hidden huntress

The first book I’m reading is Outlander (Outlander #1) by Diana Gabaldon. I’m doing a read-a-long for this book with some incredible other bloggers and I’m enjoying it SO MUCH. I really like this book, and I love that I can go to Goodreads and talk to the others when I’m done with a part. It’s so refreshing to be able to discuss the book while you’re reading it.

The second book I’m reading is Prince of Thorns (Broken Empire #1) by Mark Lawrence. I really enjoyed the part I’ve read so far -which is about one fourth- but I put it down for a bit until I finish the others. It’s quite a unique read, Jorg is quite the character. He kind of creeps me out to be honest -which is not a bad thing necessarily!

The third book I’m currently reading is Hidden Huntress (Malediction Trilogy #2) by Danielle L. Jensen. I got this book for review from the publisher via Netgalley and I was so excited for it, I had to pick it up immediately! I’m about 60% in, and it’s honestly great so far! I’m thinking this is going on the definitely recommend list.

So that’s what I’m reading at the moment! I don’t know whether I’l be picking up something else this weekend as this is quite a lot already and I have so much work to do. This semester -which end when the exams start at the end of May- I have to write 8 or 9 papers. About 1 for each course I have this semester. That’s insane! When am I supposed to do all of this? Anyway, rant over… I hope I’ll get time to read this weekend!

#FridayReads March 13th

Hi everyone! It’s time for another Friday Reads post. I don’t know what I’ll be reading during the weekend because I currently have the stomach flu and don’t really feel like reading. I’m sorry. But it’s horrible…

simon vs the homo sapiens agenda

I may be picking up Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. I received this one for review via Netgalley, and have been hearing incredible things about it! I started reading it a few days ago but then I got sick, and haven’t picked it back up.

#FridayReads March 6th

Hi everyone! The week is over which means I’ll be talking about what I’ll be reading over the weekend in a Friday Reads post.

First of all, I just finished Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain. I’ve been trying to not only diversify my reading -so adding a bit of nonfiction for example- but also to read certain novels and blogs or watch certain videos that will help me in my life. I have learned SO MUCH from this book, I’ll definitely write a full length review about it with quotes and things I have learned.

If you’re unsure about reading this book, Susan Cain also has a Ted Talk in which she talks about introverts and her book a bit as well -I’ll link it here for you.

I don’t really know what I’ll be reading next! I got some interesting books from the library this week. I’m thinking of picking up Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. Have any of you read this book? Please let me know what you thought of it, I’d love to hear it! Also, have you seen the movie? I really want to watch it too. Or I might end up reading something totally different, who knows?

#FridayReads February 7th

Hi everyone! I’m back with another Friday Reads post, to show you what I’ll be reading during the weekend. I’m currently sick so I’ve been home for a few days -which were mostly spent sleeping- but I do have some time to read this weekend.

heir of fireAt the moment, I’m reading Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J. Maas. I know, FINALLY! I have no clue why I’ve been putting this book off… But you all chose this book as my February Reader’s Choice book and although February is almost to an end, I’m determined to finish this in February and review it as soon as possible!

I am really enjoying it though! I’m a bit over 100 pages in I believe and I’ve come across so many new and interesting characters and developments! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the book has in store for me.

What are you reading this weekend? Or have you read Heir of Fire? Please let me know in the comments, it always makes me smile!

I have a random question for you all now! I’ve been thinking of making a bit more personal posts -where I talk about myself a bit, something I’m experiencing or have noticed/done- and discussion posts. Are these something you’d like to see? I know this is a book blog so I want to make sure my GLORIOUS followers would actually want to read them before I write them 🙂

#FridayReads February 13th, 2015

I’m BACK with another Friday Reads post to show you guys/girls what I’ll be reading during the weekend. I’m very sorry that I haven’t been very active on my blog for the past week. It has been a crazy start to the semester and I honestly haven’t had the time.

the summer of chasing mermaids

I just finished -literally- The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler. And I absolutely LOVED it. This book surpassed all of the expectations I had about it.

Synopsis: The youngest of six talented sisters, Elyse d’Abreau was destined for stardom—until a boating accident took everything from her. Now, the most beautiful singer in Tobago can’t sing. She can’t even speak. Seeking quiet solitude, Elyse accepts a friend’s invitation to Atargatis Cove. Named for the mythical first mermaid, the Oregon seaside town is everything Elyse’s home in the Caribbean isn’t: An ocean too cold for swimming, parties too tame for singing, and people too polite to pry—except for one.Christian Kane is a notorious playboy—insolent, arrogant, and completely charming. He’s also the only person in Atargatis Cove who doesn’t treat Elyse like a glass statue. He challenges her to express herself, and he admires the way she treats his younger brother Sebastian, who believes Elyse is the legendary mermaid come to life. .

Like I said, I REALLY liked this one! I will make a review of it but closer to the release date -which is June 2nd. I don’t have any other reading plans yet… I’ll update my Goodreads though when I pick up another book.

What are you reading this weekend? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!

#FridayReads February 6th, 2015

It’s Friday again, which means it’s time to show you what I’ll be reading during the weekend. This weekend, I’ll be going to the Netherlands with my parents. We’re going to a hotel/B&B close to a nature park and I am so excited for it! It’s a last chance to relax and just breathe before the new semester will start on Monday.

But, this means that I probably won’t be reading much this weekend. I really want to enjoy the nature park and do as much as I can there, so I will save my reading for late at night or something. I would read in the car on the way there but I get horribly carsick whenever I try to read in the car. So I won’t be doing that either.

is everyone hanging out without me

I was thinking of maybe listening to part of the audiobook of Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling. I’ve never seen The Mindy Project but I really like Mindy Kaling. I thought this audiobook would be quite nice to listen to in the car, what do you guys think?

I’m not completely sure it’ll happen though -I might just fall asleep during the ride. Other than this audiobook, I don’t really have any reading plans for this weekend. To be honest, I’m kind of stuck. I don’t really know what I want to read. If any of you have a recommendation, no matter what genre or form the book takes, I’d love to hear about it. I‘ve been struggling with choosing my next read lately.

Aside from the recommendation, I’d love to hear what you’re currently reading! Have a great weekend 😀
